Keith Methven
Guitarist, Composer/Arranger, Keyboardist, Vocalist
"Now Is The Time" is Guitarist Keith Methven's second
CD release. His first CD, "Check This Out", was played
on over 35 radio stations nationally. It was also spun in Russia,
Europe, Brazil, and on the Internet.
"Now
Is The Time" is a collect of songs in the smooth jazz, traditional
jazz, and light rock genres. "I have always had trouble confining
myself to one genre much like most music fans who can't limit themselves
to one style of music."
Keith Methven's diverse musical background is the foundation for
his straight-talking, lyric-driven songwriting. The power of his
personal views on love, and life not only drive the content of his
words, but also, supply the feeling, and sensitivity behind the
instrumental tracks.
With influences as wide as Carlos Santana, and Eric Clapton to
Pat Martino, Allen Holdsworth, and Chick Corea, Keith has developed
a smooth-melodic-guitar style that vibrates with honesty and emotion.
"Like many musicians I spent many an hour learning solos note
for note. This is the basis of my sound. However, there was also
a lot of time spent with the blues. Artists such as Michael Bloomfield,
Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and Otis Spahn have also help to define
the formative me. People say there is a blues running throughout
my writing and soloing."
"I
think my music is uniquely familiar in that it is composed of melodies,
chord changes and harmonies that although original have a familiar
influence to them. Writers such as Don Henley move me to tears.
Beethoven's symphonies, Mozart Piano Concertos, and Chopin transform
me. Miles Davis, Chick Corea, and Charlie Parker lift me to new
heights. All this blends together, within, and comes out as me."
"There is an undercurrent in life, and that is where the feeling,
the blues, and also the spirituality in the music come from."
That is the undercurrent that Keith successfully taps in his music.
That is the undercurrent that gives us, "Now Is The Time".
